IQ (Intelligence Quotient) is the colloquialism for the measure of intelligence.  It can be measured by using the formula;   IQ =   100  X   MENTAL AGE

                                               CHRONOLOGICAL AGE (ACTUAL AGE)

Therefore if someone was 10 years old but had a mental age of 14, then their IQ would be;

                             IQ =    100  X   14   =  140     

                                                        10

140 is an exceptionally high IQ

With an IQ of 150, one is a genius and is accepted into MENSA.

The name comes from mensa, the Latin word for "table," and indicates that it is a round-table society of equals.

Below is a 3 Dimensional puzzle.  This puzzle is sometimes used gleefully to torment,  infuriate, frustrate, confuse and totally annoy the average Ardrossan Academy pupil.  The three pieces of mahogany fit together on the  x, y and z axis.  Its official name is the Triple - Axis Tormentor.  

The under pressure pupil has to dissemble and re-assemble the three pieces in a fixed time period.  As time goes on the victim’s IQ drops but their brain grows.  This is a surprisingly difficult task.  Most pupils find the puzzle impossible to put back together again.                                                

Oh no Jordan has put it back together!!!  

Wait a moment though.  Here come the new S1.  New brains to be tormented.

Oh no, oh no, oh no!!!!!!  The Tormentor has been totally humiliated by a little First Year girl!!!!!!!

 She managed to take it apart and put it back together in a new record time of around 20 seconds.  No one was timing Gabi because no one has ever managed to dismantle and reassemble the Tormentor first go before, let alone in such a time and a first year pupil.  Even 5th and 6th year pupils have been totally tormented.

At the moment the Tormentor is lying at the bottom of a drawer alone in shame and disgrace.

Nevertheless, the Triple Axis Tormentor will be back and it will be more tormenting than ever.

Even the most  resilient  pupil’s brain and nervous system can be reduced to jelly due to the pressure of trying to solve the Triple Axis Tormentor.
