If, on her sea trials, HMS Hood had failed to take a port (left) after Arran and had continued on a straight course the graphics below show the dramatic results.  Instead of returning to Clydebank she would have ploughed into Ardrossan Academy.  Fortunately, this never happened and the Royal Navy sailors steered a precise course.  Jamie Gray’s 3D model of Ardrossan Academy is used to portray this dramatic imaginary event.   In the same scale and proportions, a CAD model of the great battlecruiser is shown.
